This gorgeous poster reminds me of those made for the protests in Paris Uprising in 1968.  But don’t confuse my art appreciation for support of the group that’s literally vandalizing, chanting about killing cops, and threatening innocent people outside my office right now… all in the spirit of Occupy.
Life isn’t fair.  Period.  It’s a shitty lesson to learn but one that I expect anyone over age 10 to have already grasped.  So from one only child to a group that has the tendency to act like one, would you please change course by, instead, trying to be the change you want to see the world.
*Hold your nasty-grams… technically, I am in the 99%.

Getting it all backwards

What if my dream isn’t about reaching out at all.  Perhaps it’s about outreach.  And I wasn’t going to figure out the later until I tested stepping out of my comfort zone by accomplishing the former.

Oh Universe, you are a tricky lady!

So this happened…A dream.  One of many that clutter my very active mind each night.  Bumping into one another – morphing into the next, an organic stream of unconsciousness.  Usually ending in flight as a bird, head-first, arms along my sides, coasting on the currents.  Picking up speed the only way I know how, diving towards earth.Last night’s was totally different.  It stood alone – unattached to other thoughts.  And it’s haunted me since as my mind tries to make sense of it.A dream that focused on a childhood friend with whom I haven’t been in touch since my preteen years.  If was powerful, meaningful and strife with unclear purpose.  Piquing my curiosity and demanding action, I did what I thought I needed to do.  It should have been a gutsy move given the oddity of the circumstance, but it came with ease.  Not only did it open the door to a conversation I’m now eager to engage in but reminded me that putting myself out there is a risk worthy of the reward.photo credit:   sarah tenbroeke

better days  | turns

Caine Monroy is an imaginative 9 year old who took his love of arcade games to the next level.  With the remnant cardboard boxes from his father’s auto part store, he constructed his own games now housed in the arcade he set up in that same store.  As cute as this seems, it’s a legit(ish) business open to the public… so I encourage you to check it out if you’re in the area.

What warmed me to the story was the pricing structure… two turns on the games costs $1, or, for $2, you can get a Fun Pass, which gives you 500 turns.

Turns.  Remember when that was the official currency?  Now hold onto that feeling.

Last night a storm rolled across the Bay Area.  It came with a furry unfamiliar to this area with over 705 lightening strikes and deep rumbles of thunder.  Though not quite of East Coast caliber, it did zap the night sky and rock buildings coining the term “thunder-quake”… only in Cali!

In the spirit of Positive Attitude Thursday, something my coworkers are having a hard time observing as an official holiday of my invention, I present you with a Monkeytail!  If this doesn’t make you crack a smile, I’m not sure what will.
A beard shaped like a monkey’s tail - starting at one ear, across the chin, wrapping around the mouth - it’s a nice reminder not to take yourself or others too seriously.  Seriously.

How much do you want to bet, these were the brainchild of an 8 year old boy on a playground?
